Ent Credit Union’s $50,000 Gift to MSU Denver Fuels Campaign to Combat Food Insecurity Among Students
DENVER, Colo.– Ent Credit Union is fighting food insecurity in its own backyard through a $50,000 donation to Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver), one year after the grand opening of Rowdy’s Corner. MSU Denver’s reinvented food pantry, which helps supply nutritious and healthy food through a charitable food system on-campus, received $30,000 of the funding. The additional $20,000 in funding is earmarked for research efforts and MSU Denver’s Student Emergency Fund. The not-for-profit’s donation comes at a time when the need for food assistance remains high with looming holidays and from continued pandemic and economic impacts.
“When we saw the work that was being done to provide food with dignity to students at MSU Denver, we knew we had to partner,” said Annie Snead, Senior Manager of Community Advocacy. “Our commitment to helping students of all ages starts with making sure their basic needs are met, this includes providing a nourishing meal and making sure they feel financially empowered.”
Ent has been supporting the mobile pantry at MSU Denver for approximately two years, as well as providing free financial education classes on campus.
“We want students to be students who can focus on their studies and not have to worry about their next meal, rent or utility bills,” said Sonia Falcon, director of MSU Denver’s Student Care Center. “Thanks to Ent’s financial support, we’re able to continue supporting students' basic needs through Rowdy’s Corner and our Emergency Fund program.”
Ent provides more than $2 million annually to nonprofits across the state. So far in 2023, Ent team members have volunteered 4,060 hours to nonprofit partners across Colorado, including at food banks.
