As Colorado’s leading credit union, our legacy of exceptional members service is more than 60 years strong.
Founded in 1957, we were chartered to meet the financial service needs of Ent Air Force Base. The base was named after World War II General Uzal Girard Ent, commander of the Ninth Air Force – and that’s where we got our name.
As the military presence in the Pikes Peak area grew, our credit union’s membership expanded to include the Peterson, Falcon (now Schriever) and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force bases.
In the 1980s, our field of membership expanded once again to include Select Employee Groups (SEGs) in the area. And, we merged with Penrose Credit Union, Filmco Credit Union, PRCA Pro Fund Credit Union and Hope-Coronado Federal Credit Union. These mergers allowed us to offer financial services to employees, and their families, of the Penrose-St. Francis Healthcare Systems, Alexander Film Company, several professional rodeo associations, Colorado College and more than 20 additional companies.
In 1997, we applied for a community credit union charter. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) approved our charter revision in June 1999, allowing Ent to serve the financial needs of anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in El Paso and Teller Counties.
Between 2001 and 2008, we merged with Mountain Bell Credit Union, Buckley Federal Credit Union, First Charter Federal Credit Union, Decibel Community Credit Union and U.S. Alliance Credit Union. Through these mergers, and through approval by the NCUA, we began serving members in Aurora, Firestone, Denver and Pueblo.
In 2016, we made a member-approved change to a state of Colorado credit union charter and requested to expand our field of membership to include individuals and businesses in Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas, Fremont and Jefferson counties as well as select communities in Weld and Adams counties.
And in 2018, we received approval to serve six additional counties: Adams, Boulder, Broomfield, Elbert, Larimer and Weld.
As of September 2018, Ent has:
We’re looking forward to our credit union’s next 60 years as we continue to focus on the best ways to serve our members – the very people who own this place – with quality financial products and services.
