Why should our student have a Lion One Account?
Peace of Mind: Making sure your student has the money they need.

Why should our student have a Lion One Account?

  • What are Lion One Accounts?
Lion One Accounts are a special set of free college checking and savings accounts offered by Ent exclusively to UCCS students, faculty and staff. We’ve partnered with the Lion OneCard Program (UCCS’s student ID) to make money management easier and more convenient for UCCS students.
  • How can our student access the money in their account?
With a full-service branch located in UCCS's University Center and two ATMs located on campus (in addition to over 100 throughout Colorado Springs), accessing cash from a Lion One Account is easy!

In addition, Ent is a member of the CO-OP® ATM Network – with over 25,000 surcharge-free locations nationwide, allowing them free access to their funds at thousands of locations in the U.S. and overseas.

  • Why can't our student just keep an account at our out-of-state bank?
Opening a local account allows students easy access to their funds, and their financial institution, as they begin putting their money management skills into practice for the first time. Being on campus, and at 20 other convenient locations in the Colorado Springs area, allows students to stop at their convenience to make deposits, get cash, or ask questions about their account.

Also, students can quickly rack up foreign ATM fees and surcharges when using machines outside their bank’s network. With Ent ATMs on campus, and surcharge-free CO-OP® Network ATMs across the country – students can avoid these fees that might otherwise deplete funds in their account.

  • Is a Lion One Account required?
Lion One Accounts and the Lion OneCard are optional for UCCS students. Keep in mind, however, that most students need a local checking account. As the official financial service partner of UCCS, we are committed to providing students with the products and resources students need to easily and conveniently manage their money.

  • Can we deposit money into our student’s account? Even from out of state?
You can make deposits at over 2,000 nationwide Credit Union Service Centers This is a third party link., or directly to Ent by mail. If you are joint on the account with your student, and order a Visa Debit Card, you can also make deposits using the nationwide CO-OP® ATM Network.

Of course, if you and your student are both Ent members, you can make transfers from your account to your student's within online banking, by phone or in person at any time. Wire transfers are another option for fast transfers of cash.

  • Managing a checking account is a big responsibility. Can we monitor our student's account?
We offer parents two peace of mind options:

    • Joint Ownership gives parents full access to the account, and shared responsibility for overdrafts. As a joint owner, parents are eligible for a Visa® Debit Card or ATM Card, which can be used to make deposits at CO-OP® ATMs and Credit Union Service Centers.

    • Agent status gives parents access to the account without financial responsibility. When your student grants you “agent” access, you can monitor the account by phone or online. (Your student will need to share their security codes and passwords with you to allow you to access electronic systems.)
